Entering Into Silence

Today we are going for a slightly harder meditation, its not guided, there are no words or real instructions to follow.  Don't worry if you are new to meditation and find you can't keep in meditation for a long time, for just a few moments of this powerful meditation can produce wonderful healing.

We are going to be entering into silence.  Before we do this, have a think about what noises you can hear right now.  Is the TV on in the background?  Are you listening to music?  Can you hear noises outside in the street?

Our lives are now filled with a constant noise.  Music playing in shops, traffic, people, everywhere we go there is almost a constant backing track!  Today, even if just for a few moments we are going to try and enter into our own personal silence.  By doing this we will be getting in touch with our inner being, listening not to outside noise, but to our bodies, energy system and possibly our higher self.

To do this meditation:

Take yourself into your meditation space
light a candle, but do not play your usual relaxing music
make yourself comfortable
breathe

Take 5 long deep breaths
now breathe normally
at first you will notice every single noise
your mind will whirl, random thoughts will appear

Take 5 further long deep breaths
every time you notice a noise
imagine you are turning down the volume
see yourself turning down the volume

Do this for all thoughts, for all noises

Enter into the silence

Try and keep in your own personal silence for as long as you can.  If you only manage 1 minute, accept that this is how long you needed.  You can always try again tomorrow.  Do not judge how long you were in the silence for, just accept.
